Who is behind Black History in Two Minutes (or so)?
Black History in two minutes is the brain-child of Executive Producer Robert F. Smith, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Vista Equity Partners. Smith is the Black billionaire who freed the 2019 Morehouse University graduating class from debt, directing them to use their advantage to empower others in their communities. Smith’s business acumen and philanthropic outreach have touched all aspects of the Black experience in America. Smith’s efforts include building coalitions within and outside corporations to further diversity in the workplace, as well as advocating for prison reform.

Host & Executive Producer: The series is hosted by Executive Producer Henry Louis Gates Jr, the Alphonse Fletcher University Professor and Director of the Hutchins Center for African & African American Research at Harvard University. Emmy and Peabody Award-winning filmmaker, literary scholar, journalist, cultural critic, and institution builder, Gates has created more than 20 documentary films and authored or co-authored more than 20 books, including, most recently, Stony the Road and The Black Church. Executive Producer: Dyllan McGee is an Emmy and Peabody award-winning filmmaker who is co-founder and executive producer of McGee Media, a documentary film company with works highlighting social justice. Her PBS and HBO production credits include The African Americans: Many Rivers to Cross and Teddy: In His Own Words, respectively. She founded The MAKERS Conference to advance and promote women at work. Executive Producer: Deon Taylor, is a film director and founder of Hidden Empire Film Group, which produces BeWoke.vote, a 2019 Webby Award nominated video podcast series. Taylor and Robert F. Smith teamed up as executive producer for Be Woke.Vote, which aims to engage and educate.
